Travel Journal - Day 8: "Flying Home"

This morning we spent one last meal with John and Robin before saying goodbye to our new friends and loading our bags in the taxi. It really has been a blessing gleaning information from the Proios'. I can't wait till the next time I'm in Brazil to visit them and observe the Christian camp where they live, and the boat ministry they do up and down the Urubo River (a large tributary off the Amazon).

Everything went smoothly at the airport. Once on the plane I had fun playing with a cute little one and a half year old boy. He and his mother were heading home after spending five weeks with her parents at the place on the Amazon where she had grown up as a missionary kid. I laughed as she and Tim began talking about Brazil and people they both knew. In fact, every missionary we met has known at least two people that Tim knew during his time in Brazil as a youth. (Even taxi drivers were familiar with the school on the Amazon where he attended.) It really is a small world when talking about missionaries in northern Brazil.

We arrived in Miami a little late, but Tim and I were both lucky enough to make our connecting flight with only minutes to spare (we both ended up on the same flight to Houston). We didn't have seats next to each other but after arriving in Houston, we had the chance to talk one last time before boarding our separate flights home. During these few minutes, Tim shared with me one final miracle. It turned out that his seat partner (on the flight to Houston) worked for a large, international law firm which occasionally takes on a small handful of charities for pro bono work, and they currently have an opening! Tim shared the whole plan for the orphanage and they exchanged info but we will have to see where the Lord takes it. (We really could use free legal help in the states so this has the potential of being a major blessing.) Either way, we have both been amazed at how God has consistently arranged important details and brought people to us in miraculous ways! We have really seen many signs that appear that God is really blessing this ministry and giving us a big thumbs up!

After we landed in Houston, we said our final goodbye's and wished each other well on the final flights home. It really has been an incredible time for me with Tim; he knows so much about Brazil and is working with so much passion for this cause. It really is contagious being around him!

When I finally got home, Sarah was very happy to see me. Since the kids were still asleep, we went to bed and woke them up in the morning. They were also very happy to have their dada home, and I was happy to be with them too. I give them some little things I picked up in Brazil and they had a blast opening them. Later that day, when I returned home from work, we all enjoyed having a normal evening together as a family.
