Mission Trip Dates Announced for 2007!
We are not even done with 2007, but it is time to start gearing up for next summer’s mission trip! The dates have been set for July 26 through August 10. During this time, we will be taking 20 people to Brazil and will be working on two projects: finishing up the school building and (hopefully) breaking ground on the first orphan home.
Out of the 20 spots available, we currently have 12 filled so if you are interested, please contact us as soon as possible so we can put your name on the list!
We will be leaving on July 26 and flying to Manaus. From there we will head down river about 150 miles to Urucurituba were we will be working for the rest of the trip.
The total cost of the trip will be $2,500 per person, and you'll need to raise your own support, but even if you can't go on this trip with us, we would ask your prayers for the team and that God will be glorified in all the work that is done.
If you would like to help contribute financially to one or more of our workers, please let us know ASAP.
8.15.07 Tale of Two Buildings...
This story starts the summer of 2006 when a team went down to a small church in the middle of the Amazon Basin. The goal was to build a church to replace the old church building that was wearing out. Shortly after the team left there was a dedication service held in the new building and many people accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Praise God!
On July 5, 2007, almost one year after the new building was complete, about 100 people (locals and visitors from nearby towns) gathered to celebrate the church's anniversary. Many of the people hung their hammocks around the old building, much as the building team had done while living there.
The service went well and soon everyone departed back to his or her own home. All that remained was Pastor Alcideles, a friend and a co-worker named Antonio. They stood inside the small room at the back of the old building cleaning up and preparing to leave. Through the noise of the jungle they heard a crack and stepped out of the building to see what caused the noise. Much to their surprise, after they stepped out of the building it collapsed!
Gods Timing is perfect. One day earlier and there would have been 40 people staying in that building. One year earlier and there would have been no building to worship in.
PRAISE THE LORD!
