We're so excited to let you know that the building plans for our family-style orphanage homes are finished! A special thanks goes out to Glenn Wells from Olympia, Washington. Glenn did the plans for us free-of-charg e and they look great. It really is encouraging to finally get a feel for the layout of each home. In addition, seeing the sketch of the exterior helps make this project seem all the more realistic. (Can't you just envision the kids playing outside with the landscape of the Amazon jungle in the background?)
As you can see from the floor plan, each of these family-style homes will feature a master bedroom and bath as well as an attached office for the dorm parents. In the main portion of the house there will be a large kitchen, dining room and living room. Branching off to either side of the living area are left and right wings that will each feature a pair of bedrooms and an oversize bathroom. With this arrangement, each home can house a set of dorm parents and up to twelve children. Eventually, the building site will contain many of these homes as well as additional support buildings for laundry, an administrative office and more.
With this new set of building plans finished, the likely question that follows is "when will it be built?" Although we can't say for sure at this point, our goal is to go ahead with the groundbreaking and first round of construction during our summer missions trip in June and July. Please help us pray for this as we're still seeking the finances to purchase the plot of land that we've picked out, as well as money to purchase the building supplies. In the next eNewsletter, you'll see a number of ways you can get involved and help us reach this goal, so stay tuned!
